If you've driven past the intersection of Rt. 97 (Georgia Avenue) and Rt. 144 (Frederick Rd.), you've seen the sign for Mink's Tavern "coming soon" for several years. The time has finally come. The tavern is now open daily from 11:00 am until midnight or 2:00 am on weekends. It's a sports-oriented bar with a few tables, lots of flat-panel TVs, and a pool table.
The menu for now has only a few basic hot sandwiches and some appetizers, so don't make a trip just for the food. But Mink's aims to be a friendly neighborhood place to watch a game or just hang out. There's also an open mic night on Wednesdays. We wish Mink's success in the wilds of western Howard County.

Hi All.
I’m Roger, and I’m running the open mic at Mink’s tavern. We’ve been at it for about a month or so now, and we are hoping that Mink’s will become THE place for the local musician’s to come out and play. For the time being we are doing it on Wednesday nights. I have the PA setup by about 9:00 pm and we play to closing, at about 12:00. Bring your guitar and come out and check us out.
I haven't been to the open mic yet, but I am looking forward to it. I am so happy Minks is finally open!
Curious...is the open mic free to original music as well? I'm a singer/songwriter that plays mostly originals.
Thanks for your input.
Jae
Hey Jae
Original music is certainly welcome. We’ve had a couple of folks who do almost entirely their own songs. As I said in the earlier post, we start at about 9:00 and go to about midnight. How long you can play is mostly determined by how many people show up. I usually start it up, and then we cycle through everyone who wants to play, with approximately 4 or 5 songs per set. Ground rules are just common civility. Because it’s not a huge place I try to keep the SPL under 80 dB. Hope to see you there soon!

Minks is amazing! It's the best bar in hoco! We love you keisha!
Hey All,
I am going to be out of town next Wednesday (13 May) so that night's open mic is canceled. Sorry 'bout the short notice, but that's the way it goes with corporate brass. We will resume or normal schedule the next week. Thanks so much for everyone who has been coming out and making this open mic such a success. Hope to see you soon. Roger
Hi all!
I've been going to Mink's for open mic night for a while now and it is awesome! It's great to play there and to listen to the local talent as well. Some of my friends play too, which is great for the social aspect. Roger is great and runs a real fun night!
Please come and hang out with us!
hello is Minks still open--as of summer 2012?
